clear and concise

In clear and concise writing Reiss presents a framework for understanding the concepts of project management. First he introduces you to the jargon and then goes though nine steps you need to reach a successful project. He addresses critical path concerns, and resource allocation. His section on criteria for choosing computer software was informative, but the scope of the programs he discusses is far beyond the needs of a small shop.

Full of snark, bantering, and plenty of laughs, I loved this one!!

Clean romance lovers --- This one is for you!!

I've been a Sheralyn Pratt fan for 5 years. I first read her book City of Angels back in 2010 and loved it. Her Rhea Jensen series soon became one of my absolute favorites. I loved the snarkiness and humor and have been waiting for the final book in that series to be released.

I had the chance to meet Sheralyn last year at a Conference in Provo, UT. At that time I begged her to finish the Rhea Jensen series. She's had valid reasons why she has not yet finished the series and may not do so for quite some time so I conceded that a clean romance would be an acceptable alternative.

I recently got an email asking if I wanted to read her new clean romance The Kiss That Launched 1,000 Gifs.

Heck yeah!!

Any guesses on whether I got anything done that day? Sure did. I read an amazing book! I spent an hour on an exercise bike reading the entire time. We had 4 dentist/ortho appointments that day and I read the entire time. When we got home I curled up on the couch and didn't get off until I was finished. No better way to to spend my day.

This is the exact type of clean romance that I love to read and can recommend. Full of snark, bantering, and plenty of laughs, The Kiss That Launched 1,000 Gifs is a book sure to be loved by anyone who enjoys clean romance.

So do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this great book. I seriously loved it!

I Wish I Could See the Kiss! :)

Grace is a professional. She is an anchor for a local news station. Her hair and clothes are always immaculate. Her body is trim and tone. She never loses her temper - even though her Latina blood boils hot at times.

Ashton is an outdoorsman. He's laid back and casual, always preferring jeans and work boots. He always has a smile for everyone, and can he help it if he's gorgeous and women swoon? He's not trying to flirt.

Grace doesn't see that Ashton is really very sensitive and intuitive. Ashton doesn't see how hard Grace has worked to get as far as they have. All they see is that for two hours a day, five days a week, they get to battle it out on the air for their radio show, Battle of the Sexes.

When Fate decides to spice things up, they end up kissing for charity. It's a knock-your-socks-off kind of kiss, and things just get more interesting from there.

I was thoroughly entertained. I loved the characters! It was frustrating that Grace thought so little of Ash in the beginning, and yet when we see his point of view, he's not trying to be an idiot.

I was rooting for them, and the end is really very satisfying. The most frustrating part of the book is that I wanted to go look up Grace and Ash's social media platforms and check out their feeds! I wanted to go stalk them on tumblr and watch their kiss gif! You can't do that with fictional characters. :)

While this romance is technically clean, there is a lot of sexual tension and innuendos, and mention of intimate relationships between characters. There is one instance of behind groping. :) I don't remember specific swearing, but there is mention of a not necessarily appropriate hand gesture.

So while there is no explicit sex, some of the content might be borderline uncomfortable for some readers.

Enjoyable read overall.

Much more than a simple chick flick about a kiss!

This is my first exposure to this author and hopefully, it won't be my last. I thought this book was fantastic.

Ashton Miller and Grace Vasquez are co-hosts on an afternoon radio show called, The Battle of the Sexes. They debate man / woman topics all the while trying to one-up the other. Unfortunately, the show is slated to be cancelled for a national syndicate show. In the meantime, the show's producers try one last marketing campaign in an effort to try to sway the decision. As the days tick down, they are also asked to participate in a fundraiser for a local charity where the stakes are that they kiss each other.

Ashton has had a crush for Grace from the beginning, but he's never pursued her because she was dating someone else. And, Grace unconsciously admires Ashton and enjoys his flirtations. So, what is supposed to do with her boyfriend?

So, as the "big kiss" approaches, how do they each respond?

However, this book is much more than a simple chick flick about a kiss. In fact, the depth of this book is quite unusual for this genre. The author takes advantage of the radio setting to provide lots of relationship advice and even some parenting advice. There is a scene where a sensitive topic is discussed, but it's done amazingly well. So much so that it sparked a conversation with my husband that we intend to expand with our daughters.

There's also a strong theme of social media. So, it helps to have a baseline understanding of the various social media outlets.

Finally, the secondary characters are great - They are supportive all the while being honest. They don't hide their opinions and therefore are able to give excellent advice.

Language - very clean
Romance - PG - There's a conversation (only) between Grace and her boyfriend concerning sex and a couple of kisses.
Grammar - B - it could benefit from a proofreader, but the other good features of the book outweigh any editing mistakes where a word was missed getting deleted.

A wonderfull book from the show. It reads like a professional FBI notes on the prisonors of Fox River. Details interviews,doctors reports etc. Nice keep sake for Prison break fans. PRISON BREAK RULES FOREVER!!

The book quality is amazing,..[I expected less to be sincere,..].
Even being paperback,..it's awesome,..the book is supposed to be the F.B.I confidential but leaked (to us) files of the Fox River convicts who escaped and you can get knowledge of every little detail concerning their lives before being imprisoned and the reasons while they are in prison now,..their weakness and breaking points,..really interesting,..

Then it has very detailed psychological profiles and points of view (from F.B.I agents) of the other main characters who are not inmates,..
On the back of the book,..it contains a DVD with lots of extras and never seen footage,..along with some promo stuff,..very entertaining,..

DEFINITELY RECOMENDED TO ALL PRISON BREAK FOLLOWERS!!(ALSO VERY NICE PRICED!). SO THERE'S NOTHING TO WASTE,..GET IT NOW!

Good value, good reference, not recommended for learning R or statistics

I've recently done the free coursera data science classes, which I supplemented with books and online resources learning both statistics and R.

In this book, I appreciated I comes at a very reasonable price. Some of the statistics textbooks cost as much as $150. There is also a lot of ground covered in this book. The individual sections are fairly concise and cover a single scenarios with two examples. which I found very similar.

I think there are a number of critical gaps and omissions in the book. A lot of concepts are just given to the reader without an explanation. For example, the first time you see tapply() mentioned, all it says you can use this to solve the problem. Similarly, the graphing is just given to the user as specific code examples which the user will then have a hard time adapting to other scenarios because no fundamental understanding is gained.

The never ending references to the R help are annoying. It's ok to say it a few times, but it just looks like the same paragraph is included with each section.

Overall, as a tutorial, it fails. As a reference to R I found it somewhat useful, however answers of the kind provided in the book are frequently found on sites like stackoverflow as well.

I recommend "Elelementary Statistics - Picturing the world" for a sound approach to learning statistics. The 2011 fifth edition can be had for a reasonable price. Check out MarinStatsLectures on youtube for an introduction to R and statistics.

Interesting book, but formatting varies between kindle devices

This is an interesting book that is really three very separate parts: An intro to R, coverage of bayesian statistics and a look at clustering methods using a GPU.
As an intro it is ok (I mean the non-bayesian sections I and II), but frankly the amount of time devoted to covering data frames is ludicrously small for such an important topic. If people are to do real work in R, they definitely need to know how to manipulate their data, including importing, ordering, subsetting etc. Same comment applies to graphics. I think that almost everything I do that is exploratory, is with the intention of graphing it at the end of the process. This aspect is barely mentioned until bayesian statistics (part III).
The highlight for most is the GPU clustering material which is fascinating. The big drawback for many is that the corresponding library is linux only, which was disappointing.
I noticed that the formatting of the R output is good on the cloud reader but faulty on a Touchpad kindle reader - where the R output is not properly formatted with a fixed font - so is difficult to follow in places.

Overview

This e-book gives a good overview on Bayesian statistics as well as classical statistics with a separate chapter on high performance computing with GPU. The first two parts on statistics (Bayesian as well as classical) are a nice reference material and gives analogies between the two approaches and shows the functions and tools that are available in R. Comparing with price and material ratio, this book stands out and is definitely worth the money. This book is more on the lines of lecture notes than an actual book.

Super cute Japanese country girl

Per Kotori Kawashima who is the photographer of this book, this is not documentary of the "Mirai-chan" and even this name is not real her name, but you could see how this 4 year-old girl is growing up in this very country side of Japan. How messy the house is, her mismatch clothing, snotty face with food crumbles, everything is so natural and nostalgic that remind me of the "good old time of Showa-era" about 40 - 50 years ago. Most of all, you will falling love this cute little girl with strong face expression, who is so natural and been herself....

Founded in 1951, the Court took root in a pre-democratic political culture. The Court's earliest contributions were to help establish liberal values and fundamental rights protection in the young Federal Republic. The early Court also helped democratize West German politics by reinforcing rights of speech and information, affirming the legitimacy of parliamentary opposition, and checking executive power. In time, as democratic values took hold in the country at large, the Court's early role in nurturing liberalism and democracy led many West Germans to view the Court not as a constraint on democracy, but as a bulwark of democracy's preconditions. In later decades, the Court played a stabilizing role - mediating political conflicts and integrating societal forces. Citizens disenchanted with partisan politics looked to the Court as a guardian of enduring values and a source of moral legitimacy.

Through a comprehensive narrative of the Court's remarkable rise and careful analysis of its periodic crises, the work carefully dissects the success of the Court, presenting not only a traditional work of legal history, but a public history - both political and societal - as well as a doctrinal and jurisprudential account. Structured around the Court's major decisions from 1951 to 2001, the book examines popular and political reactions to those decisions, drawing heavily on newspaper accounts of major judgments and material from the archives of individual politicians and judges. The result is an impressive case study of the global phenomenon of constitutional justice.

Justin Collings is Associate Professor of Law at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, where he teaches comparative constitutional law, legal history, and torts. He is a graduate of Yale Law School and holds a Ph.D. in modern European history from Yale University. In 2012-2013 he was law clerk to the Honourable Guido Calabresi of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
