It would have been better to have the line drawings throughout the book as ...

This is not really a field guide at over 1000 pages! Compared to other field guides I own, I would have to say that it is over informative, with the reader requiring a high degree of firstaid knowledge, and in some cases, resources. It would have been better to have the line drawings throughout the book as colour pictures (and more of them) rather than having the colour plates at the start, some of which I thought were irrelevant. As an abbreviated version of the authors text book, which is a tome in itself, this is ok, but it is certainly not concise, simple,lightweight and easy to use, which is what I look for when backpacking.

I am a retired physician who specialized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, a field far on the other end of the spectrum of care from emergency or field medicine. Looking for a resource allowing me to be useful in emergencies for church outings or family hiking, I discovered this remarkable textbook. The organization of topics was well thought out, with sections covering specific circumstances such as altitude sickness or tropical medicine as well as more general chapters on approach to emergencies and splints and bandages. I especially appreciated the listing of what can and should go into complete first aid kits.

This was a horrible book in the series

I really loved Cyborg Nation and I liked Rules of Engagement, both of them are in the Cyberevolution Series but this book really disappointed me. The other two books had romance, clumsy attempts at courting, and you can feel the emotions from the characters. But this one, omg, 6 men...isn't that seriously a bit much? I think 3-4 guys is good and more than enough, because then you can get to know each one individually. A woman doesn't need more than 3-4. What is this? Some kind of harem or stable, why not a dozen then? Geez. I feel that in the book, Sebastian, Lucien, and Thor kind of blended together and didn't have much personality and they didn't feel different from the other. I didn't know much about each of them or cared.

Jared, Kane, and Damon would have been enough...but no, the author had to throw in 3 more guys who are just "all about sex" and thinking with a certain organ. And guess what? Those stupid 3 guys, Sebastian, Lucian and Thor had to ask her for an orgy or a foursome because it's kinky. She didn't even want to do it, but they kept asking and she finally agreed. I'd have just walked away or said whatever.

And how can there be alot of romance when there's a sign up sheet for sex and they are on a nightly rotation? That's seriously messed up. And for her to even consider it? My opinion of her kind of went downhill from there, and just because Sebastian, Lucien, and Thor happened to be rescued too and part of the crew now...doesn't make them equal to the other three that she obviously have known alot longer and care about. How can see just make them a part of the family too? Is it that easy to pick up strays? ARghhh!!! I'm frustrated. I was grinding my teeth.

I just feel so cheated with this book. And the atmosphere just isn't even conducive to romance. How can it be romantic when another crewship mingles with your crew, and it's all a bunch of strangers you don't know because you're trying to help them out to find a planet to settle. In the mist of all the strangers and not having any quality time with any of the men, I would think that the woman would just be indifferent to it all, especially if she had to sleep with each one on rotation. Geez. I wish I can ask for my money back. I shouldn't have wasted my time.

This is a delightful book that will appeal to a wide spectrum of readers; those interested in the history of London, time travel, how science develops ,life in the 1800s and how a contemporary (a young woman physician) might respond to being wrenched from today back to the time of Jane Austen and Cavendish. There are fasciniating insights...how would someone who had never seen plastic respond to the sighht of a plastic bottle? What would a Londoner of 1800 think of twenty first century dress? I eagerly await a sequel. John Coffey, please get to work

A mystery and history and a little medicine during an entertaining romp thru history

Wonderful combination of a history lesson, a mystery and interesting characters taking the reader thru a different time. The author furnishes much detail about the 1800s in London while drawing contrasts with the modern world. An altogether entertaining read with characters that draw the reader further into the story. Sylvia is a very modern woman in another time.

Sylvia grabs hold from the introduction and does not let go even at novel's close. Her paths along long-ago London transport the reader to the sights, sounds and society of 1800 and then pull back to present day hospitals and science. Will she stay or will she go? Dr. Coffey, hopefully, is working on a sequel. I loved this book and as days and weeks go by keep thinking of Sylvia.

Good for late level 1 students

As a piano teacher, this level 1B duet book was my Christmas gift to several of my beginning students. My kids I gave it to really enjoyed it. (More so than I expected!) It does contain eighth notes, so there's the catch. If the child is still in the Primer volumes, most of the arrangements are beyond his/her grasp, but for my mid to late level 1 kids, they were perfectly capable of getting up to speed on many of the songs. Then, as a teacher, you have a volume that is still okay when they reach level 2! The first few pieces are in C position, then there is a section of G position pieces, and then there a couple of others towards the end in "different hand positions", but should not be issues for most capable students. There are a few arrangements the kids will know (Oh Susanna!), but most are just fun simple arrangements that they can enjoy playing with their teacher, or sibling, or parent at home who plays. As a teacher (and a couple of my parents have commented), we really appreciate duet books because playing with another individual really makes the child count - and not "guess" at it!

Get the Hiccup Waltz

The Hiccup Waltz is a favourite in our family, I couldn't tell you how many of our students have played it as well. It's a fun, catchy piece that can be played by two beginner students, especially if you have an older or more advanced student who is more comfortable with reading the bass clef.
We bought the book just for the Hiccup Waltz, and use the other songs occasionally as well.

Uncle Remus

Book was a bit musty but it will do just fine. My father read it to us when we were kids and then to all the grandchildren and it was everyone's favorite. Now these same children tell me it's " politically incorrect" . To me, it's a great tale and my grandchildren will have it read to them!
